Placing Call Bets
Most European and French tables have a system to place Announces, or Call Bets, which are announced to the dealer, who then place the bets on the corresponding fields.
This system allows one bet to cover many numbers and also a section of the Roulette wheel itself. The numbers are split into various arcs, as shown below:

These bets mainly come from the French version of the game, where it is difficult to play many numbers, as there are no coloured chips to tell players' bets apart.
Bet Types
Voisons du Zero
Voisins du Zero, meaning 'neighbours of zero', is a nine-chip bet, which will produce different levels of payoff depending on which number comes in. If 0, 2 or 3 come in, then you will receive 15 chips profit, whereas any other number in the group will give you 9 chips.
Your chance of winning on any given voisin bet is 45.9%.
The bet is made up as follows:
| Numbers | Type | Chips |
|---|---|---|
| 0/2/3 | Street | 2 |
| 4/7 | Split | 1 |
| 12/15 | Split | 1 |
| 18/21 | Split | 1 |
| 19/22 | Split | 1 |
| 25/26/28/29 | Corner | 2 |
| 32/25 | Split | 1 |
Tier du Cylindre
This bet covers a third of the wheel for the 12 numbers opposite zero, and is a six chip bet. Returns are 2-1, the same as for a Column or Dozen bet. So for example, if a player calls "Tier by Five", this means that the bet would cost (£5 x 6) = £30, and if it won, the total returns would be £90 (£85 plus £5 stake).
Your chance of winning on any given Tier du Cylindre bet is 32.4%.
The bet is made up as follows:
| Numbers | Type | Chips |
|---|---|---|
| 5/8 | Split | 1 |
| 10/11 | Split | 1 |
| 13/16 | Split | 1 |
| 23/24 | Split | 1 |
| 27/30 | Split | 1 |
| 33/36 | Split | 1 |
Orphelins and Orphans
This bet covers the areas of the wheel between Tier and Voisins on either side, and is a five chip bet. Payouts depend on the number that comes in; 1 or 17 will give you a 31 unit profit, whilst all other numbers in the group will return a profit of 13 units.
Your chance of winning on any given Orphelins and Orphans bet is 24.7%.
The bet is made up as follows:
| Numbers | Type | Chips |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Straight Up | 1 |
| 6/9 | Split | 1 |
| 14/17 | Split | 1 |
| 17/20 | Split | 1 |
| 31/34 | Split | 1 |
Zero Spiel
This is a four chip bet covering zero and the three numbers either side of it.
Your chance of winning on any given Zero Spiel is 18.9%.
The bet is made up as follows:
| Numbers | Type | Chips |
|---|---|---|
| 0/3 | Split | 1 |
| 12/15 | Split | 1 |
| 26 | Straight Up | 1 |
| 32/35 | Split | 1 |
Neighbours
This is a five unit bet, which covers a specific number on the wheel and the two numbers either side of it. For example, if a player calls out "12 and the two" or "12 neighbours" this means that they place a bet on number 12 and the two numbers either side of it - a total of five numbers. The payout is 31 units, and there is a 13.5% chance of this happening.
Finale
Another call bet is the Finale, where the player bets on all the numbers that have the same final digit. For example, a player calling out, "Final 8" places a bet on the number 8, 18 and 28.
As the roulette numbers reach a maximum of 36, Final Zero to Final 6 places a bet on four numbers (e.g. 6, 16, 26, 36), whereas Final 7 to Final 9 will place a bet on only three.
