Casino Etiquette

Contrary to popular belief, there aren't many rules and regulations to follow when visiting a casino, after all, they're designed to provide you with a fun night out! However, we have a few tips and pointers to make sure your visit runs smoothly.

Dress Code

Although James Bond might wear a tuxedo to the casino, you certainly don't need to! Most casinos will simply request that you wear 'smart casual' clothes, and avoid the use of sportswear, baseball caps, denim, trainers or open toes shoes.

Bet Limits

On each of the tables, you will see signs indicating the minimum and maximum bet for that table. This means that each bet placed should be at least the minimum amount, and no more than the maximum amount.

Different games and tables will have different minimum bets. For example, Poker and Blackjack may have a minimum bet of £2 or £3, whilst Roulette may have a minimum bet of 25p or 50p.

Games like Roulette and Craps also have different levels of bet depending upon the chance you are willing to take. For example, with Roulette, the minimum bet may be 25p on individual numbers or groups of numbers, but when you place a bet say on red or black, or odds or evens, the minimum bet could be £5.

If you're not sure what the minimum bet is, just ask.

Joining a Game

You need to be seated to play most card games except Blackjack - if there are no free seats, pick another table or wait for a position to become available.

For roulette, there is no maximum number of players; just walk up to the table and start playing.

Chips

Most casino games will require you to buy chips in order to play. You can do this by simply putting down the amount of money you'd like to exchange on to a games table, which the dealer will exchange it for chips. If you don't have any cash, there will be a Cash Desk available that will exchange chips with a guarantee card or major debit card.

However, if you want to play Roulette or Craps, you will need some specially coloured and marked chips, so that the dealer can tell which bet belongs to which player. There are various colours, and only one person can use that colour at any one time.

Coloured chips may not leave the table, so when you've finished playing that game, simply ask the dealer to exchange them for normal cash chips, which you can use at all other tables.

You may carry your normal cash chips with you anywhere in the casino, from the gaming area to the bar and restaurant. However, you must cash all your chips in before you leave the casino.

Winnings

Once you've finished playing, simply take your chips to the Cash Desk, where they will exchange them for money.

Remember that you must first exchange any coloured chips for cash chips if you have been playing at the Roulette or Craps table. You can then take these to the cash desk.
