Playing the Lottery Online

In February 2003, the National Lottery introduced the facility to play instant win games online. This was an immediate success, and by the end of the year, it was also possible to play Lotto and Daily Play through via the Internet as well.

Now almost all lottery games can be bought and played online, from Thunderball to scratchcards.

As well as enabling you to play lottery games online, opening a National Lottery Account lets you play selected games by text on your mobile phone or through your TV on Sky Active.

How to Play

To take advantage of this opportunity, you must be 16 or over (as you do to play any lottery game) and open a National Lottery account with a valid UK Debit Card.

Simply add any amount of money into your lottery account with your debit card (from as little as £5), and transfer money back on to your card at any time. Any winnings of less than £500 will be paid into your account, whilst wins of £501 to £5,000 are paid directly to your debit card, so you can quickly start to enjoy them!

A cheque will be sent for prizes of £5,000 or more, up to and including £50,000, whilst those lucky winners of amounts over £50,000 will need to visit one of the Regional Centres to claim.

Out of every £1 lottery ticket:

* 50p goes to form the prize fund
* 28p goes to good causes
* 12p goes to the Government (lottery duty)
* 5p goes to the retailers
* 4.5p goes towards operating costs
* 0.5p goes to Camelot as profit
